Innovation and new technologies are crucial factors for success in the development and growth of businesses, in all sectors.
Since 1999, Laval Virtual has been the reference show for these developments and the European leader in the fields of new technologies and uses of the virtual world.
The show is welcoming more visitors each year, 17,700 visitors in 2017, and a constant diversification of the sectors represented: Industry, Heritage, Health, Training, Marketing, Culture, etc.
This growth reinforces the Laval Virtual status, which unites the entire new technology community.

Technological axes

Created in 1999 under the impetus of the former Minister of Research and Mayor of Laval, François d'Aubert, the concept of "Laval Virtual" (imagined by Bernard Taravel, Professor at the University of Angers, co-creator of Futuroscope , Guy Le Bras, GM of the GART and Simon Richir, Professor at the Arts et Métiers ParisTech) wants to bring together on the same place, a large number of Virtual Reality actors, ranging from teaching to research, businesses and the general public.

The implementation of the "Laval Virtual" concept was entrusted to Jean-François Fontaine who assumed the general direction from 1999 until his tenth anniversary in 2008. Since its first edition in June 1999, Laval Virtual has been a great success. More than 8,000 participants, extensive media coverage and a strong participation of Japanese universities, propel Laval onto the high-tech planet.

In the course of the editions, the International Meetings of Virtual Reality become the International Meetings of Technologies and Uses of the Virtual, representing not only Virtual Reality as a whole but also Augmented Reality, Interactive 3D, Robotics, Internet Objects and all Innovative and Convergence Technologies. Thanks to strong growth of 20% of exhibitors in 2013, Laval Virtual expanded in 2014: an extension of 1 000 m² was added including 300 m² dedicated to the exhibition. The total exposure reaches 7,000m² in 2017, a growth that goes hand in hand with the strong emerging demand from potential users.

Laval Virtual's success continues with the emergence of a new project in Laval: the Laval Virtual Center, inaugurated in October 2017, has become a must for businesses, laboratories and universities working on the development of Virtual and Augmented Reality. .
